Beginning Colorwork Hat Class
In this class, we will learn proper two-handed colorwork knitting techniques using the Dyea Hat pattern by Caitlin Hunter. You will learn to read colorwork charts and practice working with both hands, while maintaining an even gauge. You will also learn how to float your yarn. You will create a really beautiful, but simple, three-color hat!
Please have your brim completed prior to class, as we will move right into learning colorwork. Class fee does not include materials. We require that you purchase your yarn at Maker+Stitch for the class. Please come in prior to class to purchase yarn (or contact us to have us help you pick out your yarn) and the pattern.
Materials necessary: 120-146 yards of Color A worsted weight yarn, 55 yards of color B worsted weight yarn, 22 yards of color C worsted weight yarn (pattern calls for Lang Cashmere Light). One 16" circular needle, US 4 (or size required to get gauge). One circular needle US 6 (or size required to get gauge). One set of US 6 DPNs or size requires to get gauge) or US 6 circular needle with 40"+ cord if you plan magic loop (will not be taught). Stitch markers, darning needle, pom pom (or yarn for pom pom) optional, balloon for blocking optional.
Limited to 3 students. All Covid protocols will be followed. Masks are required. Class will take place at the shop: 56 Edwards Village Blvd, Unit 109, Edwards, CO.
