A hat made for the cold. Trail by Meghan Babin is worked from the bottom up, featuring a tubular cast on and a bold interlocking motif. This hat comes in both slouch and watchcap versions, with the option for a fluffy pom pom. Finish the look with a Hudson + West Co. leather label.

Yarn:   Hudson + West Co. Forge (70% U.S. Merino / 30% U.S. Corriedale; 235 yds [214 m]; 3.5 oz. [100g]): Watch Cap Version: MC evergreen (deep green), 1 skein; CC aspen (natural white), 1 skein; Slouch Version: MC charcoal (natural dark grey), 1 skein; CC1 fawn (natural beige), 1 skein; CC2 barn red (deep red), 1 skein.

Sizes:
Adult S (M, L): 18 (20, 22)” [46 (51, 56) cm] finished circumference, 8.5 (9.5)” [ 21.5 (24) cm] finished Watch Cap (Slouch) height. Watch Cap shown in Size M and Slouch shown in Size L.

Needles: 
Size A (hat body): US 7 [4.5 mm]: 16” [41 cm] circ needle and 1 set of DPNs, or your preferred needle for small-circumference circular knitting. Size B (ribbing): US 5 [3.75 mm]: 16” [41 cm] circ needle, or your preferred needle for small-circumference circular knitting.
Size C (optional, for tubular cast on): US 4 [3.5 mm]: 16” [41 cm] circ needle, or your preferred needle for small-circumference circular knitting.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions:
Stitch marker (m); waste yarn; (optional) pom pom maker; tapestry needle.

Gauge: 
20 sts and 28 rows = 4” [10 cm] over colorwork on Size A needle.
