We've added a Fall 2023 Retreat and Patty Lyons will join us again

Our Fall 2023 Maker+Stitch hiking and knitting retreat with Patty Lyons will open for registration soon.  Our adventure will take place in the stunning Colorado Rockies from Wednesday, September 20 - Friday, September 22, 2023. Our first retreat sold out so quickly, we looked for another wonderful opportunity to gather with Patty, and we know we've found it. Our Fall Retreat will take place west of Edwards at Wind Dance Ranch, a private retreat on 750 acres outside of Dotsero CO. We are very excited that Patty will come back to teach two sessions again, and share our time away.

For two nights and three days we will knit, relax, and explore with friends amidst stunning mountain vistas and our famous Colorado fall foliage.

Patty is looking forward to teaching us her Secrets to Spectacular Sweater Success during two 3-hour sessions, one each afternoon. Patty is a nationally recognized knitting teacher and technique expert who is known for teaching the “why” not just the “how” in her pursuit of training the “mindful knitter”. She specializes in sweater design and sharing her love of the much-maligned subjects of gauge and blocking.

Patty’s designs and knitting skill articles have been published in Vogue KnittingInterweave KnitsKnit PurlKnitter’s MagazineCast OnKnit StyleCreative Knitting, and Twist Collective. We can’t wait to learn and spend time with Patty.

When class is not in session you will have the opportunity to kick back, share stories, eat great food, relax or walk in the peaceful surroundings, and keep your needles moving.

Our retreat starts when we meet at Maker+Stitch in Edwards at 9:00am Wednesday morning. From the shop we will drive to Wind Dance where we will settle in! We'll enjoy a big, well-earned late lunch at the hut while we settle in and prepare for our first afternoon session with Patty.

Wednesday evening is for relaxing, eating a home-cooked dinner, and sharing each other's company, with a hot tub and/or around the campfire. With a clear night, star gazing will be a highlight.

Thursday we'll wake up to a yummy breakfast then head out to explore our private 750 acres with a hike or leisurely walk; the foliage could be at it's peak fall colors. We will munch on snacks as we explore, and will sit for a knit looking out over the western slope of the Rockies.

When we arrive back at the lodge, we'll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, and then Patty will hold her second teaching session of the retreat. Again, we'll spend the evening knitting, dining, hot-tubbing if desired, and relaxing around the campfire.

Friday we wake up to another tasty breakfast, relax, then pack to head out for our drive back to Edwards. We will arrive back at the shop by 1PM. Lunch is on your own, and the afternoon is free to rest, explore, or shop at Edwards' many boutiques. We are excited to hike, knit, and learn many of Patty's techniques for sweater success with you!

Important: Attendees must be vaccinated for Covid and have no Covid symptoms. For those traveling from afar, The ranch is at 7200 feet above sea level so you may want to plan a day here at altitude prior to the retreat to help acclimate. To get to Edwards, you will fly into Denver or Vail-Eagle and either rent a car or take a Colorado Mountain Express van. It is not a difficult drive but Edwards is a two hours and 15 minute drive from the Denver airport.

Accommodations are double and communal occupancy. If you are not comfortable sleeping in a room with others, this retreat may not be for you.

Retreat pricing $1400 per person. Includes all lessons, two nights lodging, meals at the Ranch, snacks, and transport to and from shop to the Ranch.
